What is God’s mission for this church?

Charlton Baptist Church exists by God’s grace and for His glory to be a welcoming community fully devoted to knowing Jesus Christ and making Him known until He returns.

• By God’s grace: We exist because of God’s gracious work in Christ that He has and is accomplishing in us and through us.

• For His glory: The primary goal of Charlton Baptist Church is not to meet our needs and wants, or to promote our agenda. Instead we exist to put on display God’s character and promote His will so in the end He receives the worship due Him.

• A Welcoming Community: We are called to establish and nurture loving and meaningful relationships with one another through which we share a common life, pursue a common purpose and together, create a place where all whom God brings can discover His gracious love and perfect will for them in Christ.

• Fully Devoted: By drawing upon the power of God’s Spirit and the authority of His Word, we desire to commit all that we have and all that we are to fulfill our calling as individual believers and as a church.

• To knowing Jesus Christ: The heart of Christianity is not knowing a set of facts or following a list of rules. Rather it’s a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ in whom we trust completely as Savior and follow joyfully as Lord. As we allow His life to transform ours, we increasingly are molded inwardly and outwardly into His image.

• And making Him known The life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ represent the fulfillment of God’s unfolding plan to reconcile to Himself a world and people, alienated by sin and death. As Christ’s ambassadors placed in the world to be salt and light, we participate in that global task by living out His Kingdom values and proclaiming His Kingdom message; inviting all to acknowledge Him as Lord.

• Until He returns We stand confident in Christ’s promised return, marking the completion of our work, when “the kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ and he will reign for ever and ever.” We will serve together, remaining faithful to our calling until He comes again and makes all things new.
